The Most Fun You Can Have Building Your First Website

Finally a course that lets you smack down the zombie horde (and makes learning HTML & CSS fun)

HTML, CSS, Silly Jokes and… Zombies.

We pair great web development teaching with silly jokes and the undead to help make learning fun. Research shows that concepts stick better if you have fun while learning them.

Zombies? Really?

It’s not just a gimmick

a zombie

Most people are familiar with zombies

a town crier zombie

Apocalyptic analogies help communicate the material clearly

Disco Zombie

A silly, fun approach helps the material stick

No other course lets you stop the apocalypse

The Site You’ll Build

The “highly esteemed and well sought after lecturer” (his words), Dr. Alexander Boople (pictured), needs a website to display his award winning1 essay entitled No, Zombies Are Not Your Friends, and Do Not Believe Them Even If They Say They Are. You’ll be building a two page site from scratch including the essay page and a bio for Dr. Boople.

1Dr. Boople has assured us that these awards are in fact “very real”, that they are “numerous” and “indistinguishable.” (We believe he meant “distinguished,” but we leave that to the reader to decide.)

You Don’t Have to Speak Nerd

We use plain language and clear analogies to make it easy for people of all technical levels to learn about HTML and CSS and build that first website.

All the Parts You Need to Build a Site

We provide all the content, images, structure and the step-by-step instructions you need to build your first website. You’ll start from a blank page and build an entire two page site complete with headers, footers, navigation and images.

A Hands on Approach

We start by explaining core concepts like “What is HTML?” and “How HTML works” and then step right into demonstrating it, having you follow along as we build that first site. We also provide the code and help along the way so your site will never look like a zombie’s handiwork.

Who Should be a Zombie Smasher?

EVERYONE, of course, but that doesn’t mean this course is for any Joe Schmoe or Keesha Lapeesha off the street. If you appreciate silly jokes, are between the ages of 0 and 2572, are not a zombie, want to learn how to build a website, are definitely not a zombie and have a hankering to stop the Apocalypse, this course is for you.

2258-year-olds will like the course too, but the instructor might badger them with historical questions and/or ask how they lived so long. 259-year-olds can move right along thank you very much.

Who’s Still Got Two Thumbs and Teaches Web Development Using Zombies?

This guy.

He’s been building websites since the last millennium and works full time as a web developer. He teaches two college level, web development courses at his local community college. He’s also published 15+ articles in web development publications. All this to say that he knows his way around some zombie smashing HTML/CSS and how to teach you to smash zombies too.

**No, he’s not an astronaut, but he wishes he played one on TV

What the Humans Say

I was really skeptical about the legitimacy of the whole zombie theme, but… I’ve really come around. These zombie analogies, silly as they are, help me understand the concepts and make them stick.

-Quincy P.

I appreciate the humor and silliness, makes learning… a lot more enjoyable.

-Abby B.
